Intro to Mosaics Weekend
Come and try your hand at making a mosaic wall hanging, paver, or birdhouse.
Working with a pre-made form and pieces of glass that can be shaped to suit your design. Participants will learn how to mosaic using the direct method. Participants will be shown how to cut and shape glass pieces using mosaic cutters, glass cutters, and glass grinders.
The class will run in two sessions to allow for drying time between processes;
Session 1: 10:30am- 3:30pm Saturday (includes break for lunch with catering provided)
Session 2: 10:30am - until project is finished on Sunday (some participants may finish their projects earlier)
Lunch will be provided on the first day using all local organic produce and catered for any dietary requirements you may have. We also provide you with a divine afternoon treat and tea and coffee facilities are available throughout the course. We anticipate that participants will be completed in time to check out one of our great local cafes for a late lunch on Sunday.
All sessions of the class will be held at the Leadlight By Ettore studios; Studio 1, The Old Auction House, 52-56 Mollison St, Kyneton, VIC, 3444.
This class is run in Studio 1, Leadlight By Ettore. Leadlight By Ettore is a multi-generational family glass arts business who specialize in leadlight windows, fused and slumped glass, and mosaics. The studio teaches terms and ad hoc glass arts classes as well as completing new commissions and repairs.
- Learn the basics of direct method mosaics
- Gain skills in cutting and breaking glass using a variety of different tools
- Learn how to incorporate a variety of materials into your mosaic practice
- Each participant will complete their choice of project to take home
- Get a solid basis in mosaics to allow you to create on your own
- Lunch and afternoon snack provided on first day, and coffee throughout
- Please bring any ceramics, glass, or other special items you may wish to include in your mosaic
All participants must wear closed toed shoes, and long hair must be tied back. Loose flowing clothing is not recommended in the studio and participants are reminded that while aprons are provided it is recommend to wear clothing they do not mind getting dirty.
Class is suitable for ages 15+. No experience necessary.
Cancellation of session booking within 7 days of the workshop start date will forfeit the full workshop fee. If cancelled by the participant between 7 - 21 days before the workshop a 50% deposit will not be refunded. At management discretion participants may be transfered to another workshop or session.
If a workshop is canceled by The Old Auction House due to insufficient enrollments, participants will be given the choice between a full refund or can transfer to a replacement workshop . Notification of cancellation of workshops will be at least 2 days before the workshop starts.
Please ensure that all dress code guidelines are carefully followed as management will not allow incorrectly attired particapants to have access to the studio spaces at The Old Auction House which may result in any fees being forfeited. Please note that even when visiting the studios these dress codes will still apply.
